Tonfa aren't just for defence
Hmm what do you give a Kobudo legend that has everything?
I recently built a pair of extended Tonfa for my Kobudo teacher and living legend Kaicho Takashi Kinjo. These were based on a traditional set of Tonfa I had hand crafted and customised for him earlier taking the grip and base dimensions, then extending them out so they could double as a supporting device. There was some additional design changes to strengthen the grip so it would handle more weight, and extend the tip so a rubber boot could be added to reduce slip and add a laser engraved Koburyu crest.
This all had a certain amount of symmetry as they were made from the same length of Australian spotted gum I had used a year earlier for the traditional Tonfa making these a complete matching set.
